Ahmad Muhidin became Best Presenter on 2nd ISPP 2026

Plant Protection Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Andalas, congratulates Ahmad Muhidin, an active student in the Plant Protection Master Program, on receiving the Best Presenter Award at the 2nd International Seminar on Plant Protection (ISPP) 2026, organized by the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Bengkulu, on 22 August 2026.

At the seminar, Ahmad Muhidin presented his research entitled “Assessment of Bacterial Leaf Blight Incidence and Severity in Local Rice Varieties in West Sumatra, Indonesia.” The study investigated the incidence, severity, and progression of bacterial leaf blight in local rice varieties in West Sumatra. It also provided preliminary information on the characteristics and pathogenicity of bacteria associated with the disease symptoms. Of the 50 bacterial isolates obtained from symptomatic plants, 27 exhibited phenotypic characteristics consistent with Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, the causal agent of bacterial leaf blight in rice.

This achievement demonstrates the student’s ability to conduct scientific research and communicate its findings effectively in English in front of an international academic audience. We hope this award will motivate Ahmad Muhidin and other students in Plant Protection Master Program to continuously improve the quality of their research and contribute to the advancement of plant protection science and technology.
